Frequently Asked Questions

Q:           Will Soulstice Media be the publisher of my book if my manuscript is accepted?

A:            No, you will be your own publisher, and thus retain all royalties from your book sales.  You may publish your title under your own name, or create a fictional name to be used as your publisher.   Soulstice Media works exclusively with authors who desire to self-publish their work.

Q:           In working with Soulstice Media, do I retain ownership of my work?

A:            Yes, the author retains 100% ownership of his/her work at all times.  All copyrighting and filings will be done under the author’s name, or under the publisher name the author chooses.

Q:           What are the advantages to working with Soulstice Media?

A:            Our team is experienced in all facets of design, publishing, book publicity, editing and, most importantly, navigating the world of self-publishing.  As an author and self-publisher, we can help you bring your work to market faster, eliminate unnecessary costs, save you countless hours of research, filings and mailings, and prevent you from overlooking necessary steps in the publishing process.  We allow you to do what you do best – write, edit and perfect your manuscript – and we take care of the production details.

Q:           Are there any on-going fees required in working with Soulstice Media?

A:            No.  Soulstice Media was created to be a one-stop shop to help authors produce their book.  We charge a flat, one-time fee, and all royalties derived from the sale of the work go to the author.  You may choose to purchase supplemental services beyond our basic package; all fees for additional services or consulting are optional and outlined in our menu.

Q:           Do you offer ghost-writing services?

A:            Not at this time.  The author is responsible for providing all exterior and interior copy and illustrations, charts and graphs, if applicable.  Depending on the topic of your book, we may be able to refer professional writers to assist you.  Please send us an email if you'd like a referral.

Q:           Must my work be a certain length?  Are there any other specifications?

A:            Yes, your completed manuscript must be at least 25 pages (after layout) in length and written in the English language.  Your work should be submitted to us via email in the form of a Word or PDF document.  Submissions must be complete and finalized.  Works-in-progress are not accepted.  Please do not mail your submissions;  all accepted manuscripts will be submitted via email.

Q:           Can you help me produce both hardcover and softcover versions of my book?

A:            Soulstice Media currently works with softcover versions, only.

Q:           Will you help me promote my book?

A:            The primary role of Soulstice Media is in the initial production and publishing of your book.  You are welcome to engage us for supplementary services and consulting in the areas of promotion, distribution and publicity.  However, whether you self-publish or work with a traditional publisher, you – the author – will be primarily responsible for the promotion of your title.  There are a number of PR and publicity firms out there specifically for self-publishing authors.  A great place to start is by checking out the Author Marketing Experts; they are a fantastic resource for marketing & publicizing your book.

Q:           How long will it take to get my book published once I turn in my finished manuscript?

A:            Once we receive a complete, edited, final version of your manuscript you can typically expect your work to be published within 6-8 weeks.  It may take longer, however, if your work requires more editing, if there are complex illustrations, charts or graphs involved, or if we are backed up with projects.  Once we accept your manuscript, you will receive a clear timetable along with your contract.
